Carl Stella

From Melbourne, Australia, Carl is a visual storyteller that has been obsessed with cinema since childhood. In 2009, he wrote, produced and directed his first major production, a short film entitled “Tiramisu”. It was funded by Beyond Blue: The National Depression Initiative, a successful non-profit organisation in Australia that promotes the importance of mental health awareness.

In 2013 he completed his Masters of Film and Television (Direction) at one of Australia’s most prestigious film schools, the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). He was awarded the Moving Clickers ‘Kickalong’ Postgraduate Film and Television (Narrative) Production Script Award for “Blood and Sugar”.

In 2015 he wrote, produced and directed “The Way Home” in Tokyo, Japan, and went on to win Best Narrative Short at the 2017 Albany Filmfest (US). With an interest in commercials, feature films, and television, Carl is committed to creating bold content and bringing honest character driven narratives to a world audience.

His dream house consists of a cinema, bowling alley and onsen.
